There are three types of Otterbox cases for the iPhone 6: the Defender, the Symmetry Series and the Commuter Series. If you have a very active life and your phone is subject to harsh environments, the Defender is the way to go. If you still want the protection but want your phone to be sleek, stylish and fit in your pocket, you will want the Symmetry Series. The Commuter Series is even more lightweight but it has bad reviews due to incorrect measurements, so you may want to stay away from it at least until a new model comes out.

What is the difference between the Defender Series, Symmetry Series and Commuter Series?

The Defender Series: If you want a ture “lifeproof” case, the Defender is the Otterbox for you. While it has a little extra bulk, it doesn’t get any better than this if you want the best protection for your new iPhone 6. It has a 3-layer protective case that can withstand bumps, drops and shocks. It has a built-in screen protector to keep your iPhone 6 as good as new. The Otterbox Defender for iPhone 6 is great for those with an extremely active lifestyle and whose phone is subject to harsh environments.

The Symmetry Series: If you don’t think your phone will be subject to harsh environments often, then you might want to think about getting the Symmetry Series Otterbox. The symmetry series is a little more sleek than the Defender. It is also more stylish and pocket-friendly which is enjoyed by many users. It is still easy to install, still has a screen protector, and can still clip onto your belt. Users report that the iPhone buttons are easier to press with the Symmetry Series and it has higher ratings overall.

The Commuter Series: Don’t even think about it. Well, okay you can, but it has really terrible reviews from multiple users. Users state that it has serious design flaws and that the measurements are just a little bit off. Otterbox is probably aware of this issue but it may still not be a safe bet.
